Joshua Rubin, AIA, BD+C is the Technical Design Director of Perkins&Will’s Washington, D.C. studio. In this role, Joshua is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and technical aspects of all projects to ensure high quality constructible designs and minimize change orders that lead to increased costs to clients. He brings nearly 25 years of experience in the commercial mixed-use, federal, retail, and aviation sectors. In addition to his technical design direction across all projects, he is a teacher at heart, revered as one of the studio’s most influential mentors to younger staff. Among recent projects, Joshua has contributed his technical expertise to the award-winning, LEED Platinum DCPL Southwest Library, The University of Virginia’s Gilmer Hall Renovation, and repositioning of 1222 22nd Street NW. He is currently working on the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum Bezos Learning Center. Joshua is a regular contributor to the American Institute of Architect’s Construction Contract Administration (CCA) Knowledge Community, having published several articles focused on improving project delivery. Joshua holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon. He maintains his professional licensure in DC, Virgina, Maryland, and Illinois (his first). He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Architectural Woodwork Institute. He is also certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
