Bill Griese is deputy executive director for the Tile Council of North America (TCNA), an international trade association involved with standards development, product testing, research, and representing North American ceramic tile and allied product manufacturers in regulatory, legislative, trade, and environmental matters. Previously, as TCNA’s director of standards development and sustainability initiatives, he spearheaded efforts to create industry-wide environmental product declarations (EPDs) for ceramic tile, tile mortar, and tile grout, as well as a first-of-its-kind tile industry Material Ingredient Guide. Griese also leads TCNA’s Green Initiative Committee, comprised of 80 representatives from 50 different organizations, which was responsible for the development of Green Squared®, the first-ever standard and certification program for sustainable tiles and tile installation materials. In addition to his role with TCNA, Griese serves as the 2024 chair of ASTM International’s Board of Directors, he is an active participant in the World Ceramic Tiles Forum, and he serves as a U.S. delegate to several global standardization initiatives.
