Amlan Mukherjee

Amlan Mukherjee is a Director of Sustainability at WAP Consulting following 18 years as a Professor of Civil Engineering at Michigan Tech. He has extensive background in life cycle assessment for construction materials and has facilitated the development and implementation of the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the North American asphalt industry. He has served as a Life Cycle Assessment Specialist at theĀ Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) supporting the Climate Challenge team and various efforts related to the implementation of sustainable public procurement. He also serves on the Acquisition Policy Federal Advisory Committee for the General Services Administration. He has also been a member of the FHWA Sustainable Pavements Technical Working Group. In the last five years, Dr. Mukherjee has worked closely with the Federal LCA Commons in developing a repository for background data and data quality assessments. He also played a leading role in developing the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA) Product Category Rule Guidance: Process and Methods Toolkit. Dr. Mukherjee currently holds professional memberships with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan. He has over fifty publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences, has advised 7 PhD students and has twenty years of experience teaching university and graduate level engineering classes. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington, M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University at Buffalo, (SUNY) and a B.E. in Civil Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India.
